Key Highlights

Bulk storage,
wherever you need it

Unlike single-use flexitanks built for transport, the Sun Storage Tank is a reusable pillow tank designed to hold large volumes of liquid on site — at plants, depots, construction sites and remote operations.

🔁
Reusable
Built for repeated use. Drain, fold, relocate and redeploy — no fixed infrastructure required.
💪
Heavy Duty
High strength polyester base fabric with TPU coating, tested to DIN standards for tensile, tear and adhesion strength.
🌡️
Wide Temp Range
Rated from −40°C to +90°C, with crack resistance verified down to −40°C.
📦
Compact to Ship
At 450kg folded, a 100KL tank ships and stores in a fraction of the space of rigid tankage.

Built to be used again

The tank body is a single layer of high strength polyester base fabric with a TPU coating — a combination chosen for its abrasion resistance, flexibility at low temperature and long service life across repeated fill and drain cycles.

At 1.3mm thickness the material is substantially heavier than single-use flexitank film, which is what allows the tank to be drained, folded, moved and redeployed rather than disposed of after one use.

Verified performance

Tensile strength exceeding 6000 N/5cm in the warp direction gives the tank the structural capacity to hold 100,000 litres without deformation at the seams or base.

Crack resistance is verified to −40°C under DIN EN 1876-1, making the tank suitable for cold climate deployment as well as high ambient temperature environments up to +90°C.

Valve TypeOD (Outer)ID (Inner)Weight
3" Butterfly Valveφ91 mmφ63 mm1.8 kg
3" Ball Valveφ91 mmφ53 mm1.7 kg
Polypropylene

Two valve options

Both valve types are manufactured from PP (polypropylene) and share a common 91mm outer diameter, so either can be specified without changing the tank fitting.

The butterfly valve offers a larger 63mm bore for faster fill and drain rates. The ball valve, at 53mm, gives finer flow control and a more positive shut-off — the right choice depends on your pumping setup and how frequently the tank is cycled.

Where They're Used

Applications

Storage tanks solve the problem of holding large liquid volumes in places where building permanent tankage makes no commercial sense.

🏗️
Construction Sites
Temporary water storage for concrete batching, dust suppression and site welfare — deployed for the life of the project and removed on completion.
🔥
Fire Water Reserve
On-site emergency water reserve for facilities and remote operations where mains supply is limited or unreliable.
🏭
Industrial Buffer
Additional process or waste water capacity during plant expansion, maintenance shutdowns or seasonal peaks.
⛏️
Remote Operations
Mining, drilling and field operations where liquid storage has to arrive folded on a truck and be operational the same day.

Common Questions

Storage Tank FAQ

What to know before specifying a storage tank for your site.

How is a storage tank different from a flexitank? +
A flexitank is a single-use container designed to transport bulk liquid inside a shipping container. A storage tank is a reusable pillow tank designed to hold liquid on site. The storage tank uses a much heavier TPU-coated polyester construction (1.3mm) so it can be drained, folded and redeployed many times.
What surface does the tank need to sit on? +
A flat, level area clear of sharp stones, debris and protrusions. A compacted sand or gravel bed works well; a ground sheet or liner is recommended on rougher surfaces. The deployed footprint is 12 × 8.5 m, so allow clear working space around the perimeter for filling and drainage connections.
Which valve should I choose? +
The 3" butterfly valve has a 63mm bore and moves liquid faster, which suits high-volume fill and drain. The 3" ball valve has a 53mm bore and gives tighter flow control and shut-off. Both share the same 91mm outer diameter fitting, so the choice is about your pump setup rather than the tank itself.
Can it hold liquids other than water? +
Yes — the TPU-coated polyester is suitable for a range of non-hazardous liquids including base oils, drilling fluids and various process liquids. Send us details of your specific liquid, concentration and temperature and our team will confirm compatibility before you order.
How many times can the tank be reused? +
There's no fixed cycle limit — service life depends on the liquid stored, deployment conditions, handling and how carefully the tank is drained and folded between uses. Kept on a clean prepared base and handled correctly, these tanks deliver many years of service.
What are the temperature limits? +
The tank is rated for continuous operation between −40°C and +90°C, with crack resistance independently verified at −40°C under DIN EN 1876-1. That covers effectively every climate the tank is likely to be deployed in.
