What is gamma irradiation?

Gamma irradiation is a sterilisation method that uses ionizing radiation to eliminate microorganisms. The gamma rays penetrate the material and disrupt the DNA of any biological contaminants present — bacteria, fungi, parasites, and other pathogens — rendering them unable to survive or reproduce.

It's the same technology used to sterilise medical devices, pharmaceutical packaging, and food contact materials worldwide. It leaves no chemical residue, requires no heat, and doesn't affect the structural integrity of the flexitank material. Once irradiated, the flexitank is effectively sterile — and remains so until opened.
